dean's clamping up, though, in that way he does when he's knuckling down, making a decision he doesn't want to make, forcing himself through a hole. i'll talk to sam, he says, and cas can't help the way his brows shoot up nearly to his hairline. the hand on dean's shoulder remains tight and sure, but cas sits back to more fully look into his face, to read the tight expression there, to gauge the hardness in dean's downturned eyes. ]
